As a childhood regular and long-term supporter of the chain, my family frequently chooses Collins for celebrations. It is with a heavy heart that I admit I struggle to find joy in most of my visits. At restaurant prices it feels, excepting the meats, that most of the food can be swapped for cheaper alternatives and the taste would be the same, including Western food court stalls. For example, the burger, despite its nice presentation, had the taste of cheap ham dominating the bite. Fries were average, pastas were average and tasted budget-friendly with their general lack of texture/bite, especially the laksa pasta (national day promo) which was unfortunately quite tasteless. It's not bad, and the meats (steak, chicken chop etc.) are still satisfactory and cooked well, but felt underwhelming, even for a casual diner. I will praise the ice cream included in the kids' meals, it's good to catch a break from Mingo! On another note, I'm not too sure why each pot of tea (one tea bag, one pot of water) is only allowed two hot water refills. It's just water...I'm sure there is a reason and if possible I'd love to find out. In the peak of rush hour, servers will understandably be flustered. But there were times the curtness of the general staff soured the experience slightly. That said, I understand their fatigue and urgency. However, it is with great pleasure that I specifically commend the attentive, proactive, and sincere service of David, who immediately stood out above the rest with his well-mannered character and made our time a lot more pleasant. Expect a long queue and difficult parking due to the mall it is in. I won't specifically recommend, but on the other hand, it is still unfair to dissuade from, to a casual diner. Personally, I would hesitate to return. Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

Ate at Collin's Nex recently and the experience was quite hit-or-miss. The steak was actually quite good—cooked nicely with a proper sear, juicy, and pretty worth it for the price point. But the carbonara was a massive letdown, honestly. It was completely tasteless and super bland, almost like the kitchen totally forgot to season the sauce or even add any salt. It really felt like I was just eating plain pasta coated in watery milk. I'd probably still come back if I'm craving a decent steak while wandering around the mall, but I am definitely avoiding their pasta section next time round. Had dinner with my colleagues at Collin’s NEX on a Wednesday night. We didn’t make a reservation, as we expected it to be less crowded since we were arriving early—and we were right. There were seats available when we arrived, and we were seated quickly. They were running a GSS (Great Singapore Sale) promotion on selected main courses, and the discounted options were actually quite decent. I went with the ribeye steak (medium rare), which came with aglio olio and corn on the side. The steak was impressively thick, cooked just right, and very flavorful—definitely worth it, especially at the promo price. For sharing, we also ordered grilled green peppers, the whole barramundi, and garlic prawns. My colleagues had a variety of dishes including fish and chips, chicken chop, and another steak dish similar to mine. All the dishes were well-prepared and satisfying. The atmosphere was casual and comfortable, though it did get a little noisy as tables are quite close to each other, which is expected in a busy mall restaurant. Staff service was alright—nothing exceptional, but they were attentive enough. Overall, a good dinner experience with solid Western-style food at reasonable prices, especially with the ongoing GSS deal. Would recommend it if you're looking for a fuss-free meal with decent variety and generous portions.
