Google Maps Review for Chakki (ภัตตาคารจ๊ากกี่) 1 35-36 Soi Watthanayothin, Thanon Phaya Thai, Ratchathewi, Bangkok 10400 If you love classic Thai–Chinese comfort food cooked with real skill, Chakki is a must-visit. This long-standing, family-run restaurant still delivers that nostalgic wok aroma, deep flavors, and generous portions that are increasingly hard to find in Bangkok today. What I tried and absolutely loved: • เส้นหมี่ราดหน้าปลาเต้าซี่ (Rice Vermicelli Rad Na with Fish & Black Bean Sauce) Surprisingly outstanding. The fish is tender and fresh, and the black bean gravy is rich, glossy, and incredibly flavorful without being too salty. The long green chilies on top give the dish a beautiful aroma and just enough heat. Truly addictive. • เส้นใหญ่ราดหน้าเนื้อ (Wide Rice Noodles with Beef Rad Na) Perfectly smoky from the wok, with beef that’s soft and well-marinated. The gravy is smooth, savory, and comforting — exactly how a great Rad Na should be. This is real “old-school Bangkok flavor.” • เกี๊ยวกุ้ง (Shrimp Wonton Soup) A simple dish, but perfectly executed. The wontons are plump and filled with real shrimp, and the broth is light, clean, and soothing. The kind of bowl that makes you feel at home instantly. Bonus: Free iced chrysanthemum tea (เก๊กฮวย) served generously — cold, refreshing, and fragrant. A small touch that adds an authentic charm to the whole experience. Atmosphere: Classic, humble, and straightforward — exactly what you’d expect from a legendary shop. Fast service, honest cooking, and flavors that speak louder than any fancy decoration. Verdict: Chakki continues to live up to its reputation: simple, delicious, timeless Thai-Chinese comfort food done right. I would happily come back again and again.
