We revisited this dim sum place after an enjoyable first dining experience. The chef was ex-Crystal Jade so expectations are higher. This time I ordered the char siew pau (there's a baked version not unlike Tim Ho Wan, which we will try another time), har gau (loved it the first time), egg tart, hum sui kok (also loved it the first time) and prawn dumpling noodles (love this too). The char siew pau was good, came piping hot. The skin can be thinner and the filling can be less sweet. I had read somewhere about Tim Ho Wan's offerings in Singapore and HK being different - Singaporeans prefer a sweeter version. The har gau was big, and the filling had a lovely QQ and crunch texture. The prawn was generous, and the taste was just right - sweetness of the prawn balanced just right by savoury notes and a hint if wine. The egg tart was good. Not the traditional flaky crust, this was the short pastry version. Not too sweet, smooth and just egg enough. The hum sui kok had a char siew filling, and was deep fried on order as the filling was super hot. I suspect it's the same char siew pau filling so ended being sweet. I'd prefer the traditional mushroom with water chestnut and pork filling, but the skin was chewy delicious. The last item, the noodle was QQ good just like HK egg noodles should be. The dumplings had generous fillings similar to the har gau but with mu er. Service is prompt, and we didn't have to wait long for food to be served. Can get a bit crowded during lunchtime as I found out during my previous visit. Glad to have a cheaper alternative to the Crystal Jade and Imperial Treasure restaurants. Warm wellcome when we reach the restaurant. The staff (name's Tuyen) is very friendly and introduce food well. I feel nice with food and have a good memories. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Breakfast

Chao Yue Xuan Dim Sum Express offers a quick and easy meal. The serving was fast, which is convenient. While the taste was okay, it wasn't particularly memorable. It's a decent option if you're looking for a speedy dim sum fix, but perhaps not the best choice for a truly outstanding culinary experience.
