Classy Le Carré exudes an elegant European charm, featuring an interior adorned with paintings that capture the eye and soft, dim lighting that bathes the room in a warm glow. This romantic atmosphere sets the perfect stage for an intimate evening out, inviting guests to linger and savour every moment. The service was impressively attentive; our waitress skillfully anticipated our needs, keeping a watchful eye on our table and efficiently managing the flow of changing plates. Her gesture of setting aside one dish to ensure it remained warm, showcasing the establishment's commitment to customer care. Our culinary journey began with a delightful trio of freshly baked breads, paired with two flavourful sauces that encouraged sampling. These bite-sized pieces were ideal for casual snacking. We opted for the fennel soup, the daily special, priced at $108, which was a delightful prelude to the main courses. For entrée, we indulged in the Chef's Special pastas: Tagliatelle Carbonara and Tagliatelle Ragu alla Bolognese, each priced at $198. These generous portions were topped with 36-month-aged Parmesan cheese. The pastas arrived piping hot, and I felt pleasantly satisfied even after an hour of strolling post-meal! Despite the overall reasonable pricing for such a location, I found the charge for a glass of still water to be excessive at $38. The 500mL Acqua Panna Natural Mineral Water was priced higher than similar offerings I experienced in Europe, where I lived for nearly half a decade. Additionally, the waitress's prompt about opening the water before our food arrived was misleading and not indicated on the menu. When combined with a 10% service charge of $65, the overall cost began to feel rather steep. The serene ambience with attentive service created a lovely dining experience, though the waitress's demeanour lacked warmth. While the quality of the food was commendable, it’s worth noting that more affordable options are likely available. The inflated price of the water was an exceptional downside, but did little to overshadow the overall enjoyment of the evening. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $300–350

Great coffee but mediocre service. I have eaten there about 8 times because I feel restaurants need time to hone their service. I visited a few weeks ago with a friend visiting from overseas. We had coffee and before we were finished, the server put the bill on the table and said the table was reserved. The restaurant was almost empty. My friend was really confused because we hadn't asked for the bill! Today, we booked ahead for Father's day and asked for a booth. Because staff weren't organised, they gave the booth to a walk in without checking our reservation. I won't go back despite the great coffee and location minutes from where I live.
