We made a reservation online on 20/5, confirmed our reservation via the link sent by the restaurant on 22/5, and arrived promptly at 4:30pm on 23/5. We were enthusiastic about the high tea as it was meant to be a date but we were left standing awkwardly at the counter. First, the staff saw us but didn’t acknowledge us at all. We tried to make more eye contact and finally got waved to take a seat at a table with a tag that it’s only for an exclusive group. So we stood in the middle of the restaurant, confused and frankly abit embarrassed as we waited for the staff, who came back and told us we don’t have a reservation and have to wait 45 mins for our high tea to be served. I corrected the staff by showing him the email confirmation, at which point we were finally given the right table for high tea and shoved the coffee/tea menu to order, like we had inconvenienced them. After we ordered, we were told in a off handed manner that we still need to wait 45 mins, at which point we frankly panicked because we have another appointment, and we’ve timed our high tea at 4:30pm to leave by 5:45pm and we are not sure if we can wait till 5:30pm for food to be served. Another more senior staff then came to assure us that they have expedited our order and while we appreciated that and we rushed through the food only to be slightly late for church service later, I think the staff need to be better trained. For one thing, we would appreciate that the staff give us the full information about the delay and the option to cancel instead of being shoved into the momentum with no choice to back out of an oversight that was clearly the restaurant’s fault. They missed our reservation, didn’t prepare for it, but expect us to wait, without considering we may not be able to wait. The planned date turned out to be a stressful one and instead of enjoying it, we are sure that this is the first and last time we are ever stepping into any establishment in this hotel. We always get wonderful service from a fine gentleman named Parti and keep coming back . The club sandwiches are nice , so is the Hokkien Mee (prawn noodles ) , the satays by the river , a pleasant ambiance. Parti will always cheerfully guide you to choose the local dishes and interact very pleasantly to make the dining experience memorable. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Crossroads Bar @ Paradox Singapore Merchant Court 20 Merchant Road, Singapore 058281 I had reserved a table for two ( via Eatigo App) at this hotel lounge cafe and bar on 9th Feb 2025 Sunday at 7.30pm. The Crossroads Bar at Paradox Merchant Court Singapore hotel is often described as having a vibrant and lively ambience. ︎ Upon stepping into the hotel's lobby, Crossroads Bar is to your left. I can tell straightaway Crossroads Bar has an upscale and sophisticated atmosphere. The decor is elegant, with soft lighting, and a quiet ambiance to create a luxurious and intimate setting. The tables are well-spaced to provide privacy too. The bar/hotel cafe features a sleek and contemporary design, with plush sofa armchair seats and a golden opulent chandelier adorned with hundreds of cut-glass crystals that reflects light, creating a stunning play of brilliance and elegance. I was dazzled by the charm of this gorgeous looking chandelier. From the beverage menu, I can see the bar serves a wide range of creative cocktails, fine wines, and beers. Unfortunately, my hubby and I are teetotallers. We don't consume liquor, so we stuck to our usual cafe lattes. Food wise = The sticks of Beef Satay were super delicious! You can tell it is good quality traditional satay from the way the meat is marinated. The coffee was great too. (️ the satay came from Ellenborough Market Cafe at the other end of the lobby. ︎That's the popular buffet eatery and also the site of the hotel's central kitchen) The️ Crossroads Bar service staff were all warm, affable and friendly. I must say this cafe-bar strikes a balance between a laid-back, casual atmosphere and a sophisticated, upscale feel, making it suitable for various occasions. It was really relaxing to sit here and have a drink or two. Dated 9th Feb 2025 Sun / CNY 12th day. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $40–50
