The food was delicious, as always, but the service could be improved. This was my first time dining at Din Tai Fung Compass One, and unfortunately, I wouldn’t return to this outlet. I was asked to complete a customer satisfaction survey before I had finished my meal. At that point, I gave an almost perfect rating — something I now regret, as I felt it necessary to update my review here after the unpleasant experiences that followed. While I always enjoy DTF’s food, I was also looking forward to a good catch-up with a close friend. However, we were interrupted multiple times — at least five — by different staff members asking if they could serve dessert. Each time, I explained that my daughter had stepped away and that we were waiting for her to return. One staff member even asked what time she could serve the dessert, and I said perhaps around 2.40pm. When she returned at 2.40pm to ask again, I had to repeat that my daughter was still not back. It felt as though we were being rushed to finish our meal, even though it was already past 2pm and there were plenty of empty tables. These repeated interruptions gave the impression that the staff showed little regard for customer comfort. When settling the bill, the counter staff (name tag: Chiong Ting) appeared unfriendly and impatient. I mentioned that I was using the BreadTalk App. After scanning, she immediately deducted the amount and handed me the receipt. I was taken aback, as I had intended to redeem from my fried rice package in the App. When I pointed this out, she replied curtly that she had confirmed with me whether I wanted to use the App. I explained that in my past experiences at other outlets, staff would always clarify whether to deduct credits or use vouchers before proceeding. She corrected the issue but did not offer an apology. While I appreciate efficiency, this interaction came across as rushed and dismissive rather than service-oriented. Overall, while the food quality remains excellent, the dining experience at this outlet fell short of Din Tai Fung’s usual high standards. I hope the management can review staff training to improve communication and service standards so that future diners can enjoy a more pleasant experience. Went for birthday celebration for my mother and yes she is a staff there and they were friendly and service is always proud to visit Din Tai Fung for their service and yummy food. They are always happy to serve whenever we went. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
