Dong Gyeong is a small eatery inside COEX that serves Japanese-style dishes, mainly tonkatsu, sushi, and soba. We chose this place because there are very limited options at COEX that cater to both meat eaters and vegetarians, and this restaurant offers both at a reasonable price. I ordered the tonkatsu — the meat was thin and perfectly fried, crispy without feeling oily, although the flavour of the meat itself was a bit bland. My husband ordered the meatless soba, which had a nice Korean twist with kimchi and seaweed soup. Portions for both dishes were reasonable. The space is quite small, and it was a bit difficult to move in and out of our seats while wearing winter jackets (and we’re not big-sized). Water is provided, which is appreciated, and the service was prompt. Overall, the food isn’t outstanding, but considering the price and the availability of both vegetarian and meat options in this shopping mall, it’s a decent choice. I was actually surprised to see it rated below 3 — it’s not amazing, but definitely not that bad either. Dong-Gyeong was decent — a small, straightforward restaurant that serves solid Korean comfort food. The flavors were balanced, and the food came out hot and fast, which I appreciated. It’s the kind of spot you go to when you just want a quiet meal that feels home-cooked. The portions were generous, and the side dishes were clean and simple. Nothing stood out as incredible, but nothing disappointed either. It’s reliable, filling, and fairly priced. A good everyday restaurant if you’re nearby, though not one I’d travel across Seoul for.
