Let's see, as far as Chinese cities go, I've had Mexican food in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenyang, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, and even Macau. El Taquero said, quite simply: Hold my Horchata. Recommended by a local Peruvian chef friend of mine, Abel, I made a reservation for Sunday at noon, and came prepared. I had no idea. Started with a scallop tostada followed by three street tacos of choice: Lengua, Bistec, and of course, Chapulines (my time in Oaxaca, 2008, being a core memory). Because I'm a consummate professional, I finished with some churros, which were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Like my soul. I lost count somewhere around 20, the number of Mexican restaurants I've been to in China, but I can unequivocally say, El Taquero is the number one gunna', number one stunna', Without a doubt! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
