Fable, a low profile bistro in Wanchai, is the "sister" shop of Papamia who both specialize in homemade pasta. Dishes came in big portions which were great for sharing. Beef Tartare w/ Woodland Herbs Served with sourdough. Buttery and smooth raw minced beef, mixed with capers and mustard - bold, acidic and full of umami. The Foie Gras Toast Melt-in-the-mouth foie gras with a nice sear tossed in a sweet and vinegary balsamic dressing. Tiger Prawns Lobster Mafaldine Slightly firm and chewy, thick and wavey mafaldine in a mild lobster broth topped with stretchy cheese. Grill Pork Ribs w/ Uncle James Apple Sauce Served with hot and crunchy fries. Extra tender meat that had well absorbed the sweet and sour sauce. Tiramisu Delicate and creamy Italian staple combined with bitter coffee and fragrant marsala. Creme Brulee Rich and custardy pudding topped with brittle and crunchy caramelized sugar. A combo of textures. Stinger Bittersweet and tangy mocktail with aromatic Earl Grey Latte Smooth, creamy and comforting. Price per person: $250–300 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Fable was completely worth it. The stunning, tree-filled interior feels like a cozy sanctuary, and you can truly taste that the food is made with heart. While the tartare and handmade pasta were delicious, the tiramisu was easily my favorite part—the warm plate message truly made my day! My only minor critique is the background pop music, which felt a bit out of place with the elegant vibe. Still, with such sincere cooking, I will definitely visit again! Hidden gem in Wan Chai. We love pasta, so we visited Fable mainly because of their Instagram posts about pasta. They did not disappoint, even though we came with high expectations. I would not say it is the best pasta in Hong Kong, but it is definitely tasty and very good value at this price point. A small detail we really appreciated was that they prepared a very cute drawing on our dessert, even though we had not made any special reservation in advance. The ambience is also nice, especially if you are bringing your sweetheart for a casual date. One small tip: I would suggest not entering directly from the On Lok Lane side connected to Hennessy Road, as that part may affect the mood due to an unpleasant smell. Instead, walk a little farther along Hennessy Road, turn left when you see Hennessy Road Playground, go straight to the end, and then turn left into On Lok Lane. That route feels much better and suits the restaurant’s vibe more. Overall, a pleasant surprise in Wan Chai. Good pasta, good value, and a charming little place worth visiting.
