What a perfect way to end our wedding day! After our wedding photos and a wonderful day celebrating together, we came to **Flat Iron Steak (Wan Chai)** for a late dinner, and it couldn't have been a better choice. We shared one of the platters, and every bite was incredible. The beef was cooked beautifully, the sausages were fresh and packed with flavor, and all the meats were high quality. The salad and sides were equally impressive—you could really taste how fresh the ingredients were. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, making it the perfect place for the two of us to reflect on such a special day. It turned our wedding dinner into a memory we'll always cherish. Thank you to the team for serving such delicious food and helping make our wedding day even more memorable. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Hong Kong! Hmm, where to start... Tldr: 1. Good chips 2. Bad condiments 3. Terrible steak 4. Bad hygiene practices I guess I'll start by saying the chips were the highlight of the meal! Really enjoyed them and couldn't stop eating them. Good seasoning and tasty, and well cooked. As for the tomato sauce that they came with, I have no idea where they bought/made that from, but it is gross. Tastes weird and is too sweet. They need to replace their tomato sauce with a more standard flavour profile. The salad was alright, though the dressing a bit too much. Would have preferred less, or for it to be put on the side. Now the steak, what everyone comes here for. Well, go elsewhere. It let me down on every level I judge a steak by. The first thing that surprised me was looking down at my plate and wondering why I was missing some pieces. Look at the photo, why on the left hand side of the steak are pieces missing? Feels like the chef took a couple pieces for himself before serving cause he was hungry... I was going to complain about it, but I didn't have anyone approach my table to ask me about my meal until the very end - even with trying to make eye contact multiple times. By then, it was too late. Then the flavour of the steak? None. They didn't season the steak at all. The most basic thing you must always do with a steak no matter how you cook it or whatever condiments you put with it, you must rub some salt into the meat before cooking. Add a bit of pepper, even better. But nope, not a drop of salt on the meat. It tasted completely bland and had zero flavour. Yes they put some butter sauce on the steak, but a good steak should speak for itself. I was also very disappointed they put the scoop of sauce in the middle of the steak instead of on the side like most other restaurants. A sauce is an accompaniment, it does not belong on the steak, it should only ever be on the side so people can add as much or as little as they want. Don't hide your bad steak preparation with a sauce that people may or may not like. Then to top it off, the steak was super tough. Like I mean really tough and hard to chew. I'm guessing they either didn't cook it at the right temperature for the right amount of time (based on the outside vs inside, they had the temp too high when it should have been lower to allow time for the fat and meat to melt and go tender) and/or they didn't let the steak sit for a few minutes after cooking to soak back up the juices. Then to top it all off, there was a server who kept coughing as he walked around. He wasn't wearing a mask, and did not cover his mouth. I saw him cough onto "clean" plates, cutlery, and napkins, and then grab them a few seconds later and place them on a table to set up the table for the next guest. Bro, if you're sick either stay home, or at the very minimum if you need the cash, wear a mask and cough into your arm. It shocked me that none of his colleagues saw this and didn't mention anything to him, as he did it even when standing right next to them. Really gross and shows they must have had hygiene practices if they don't even ask staff members to cover their mouth when they cough. Also I love (sarcasm) places that charge a service charge when the service is lackluster. Maybe you should let me decide whether your standards are good enough to provide you with the 10% as opposed to making me pay for something I didn't get. So basically, I don't think I'll ever return here! There's much better places nearby for similar prices. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: HK$250–300 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5
