【Lack of Love】 We always stay at the InterContinental Parnas whenever we visit Seoul, whether for business or leisure. As Diamond Royal Ambassador members, we usually enjoy loyalty benefits such as complimentary breakfast and club lounge access. Although we’re not big fans of breakfast, we usually skip it and enjoy coffee at the lounge instead. During our recent 7-day stay, I decided — for the first time — to try the main breakfast restaurant, Grand Kitchen. I went about 15 minutes before closing, just planning to have a cup of coffee and a couple of boiled eggs, nothing elaborate. Upon arrival, the hostess politely checked my room number, informed the team that I was an Ambassador guest, and led me to a table. She offered coffee or tea and mentioned that the kitchen was serving poached eggs with avocado that morning. Since I love avocado, I simply requested a double portion of avocado without the eggs. She looked confused but said she would check with the kitchen. While waiting, I walked around and admired the impressive breakfast selection. I picked up some eggs and made myself a glass of fresh green juice. However, when I returned to my table, I was shocked to see a plate of avocado that was clearly spoiled—brown, mushy slices that should never have been served to any guest, let alone one at a hotel of this standard. To make things worse, the coffee I had ordered earlier never arrived. I approached the barista section to request a simple black coffee, but the young man informed me that breakfast service had ended and he could no longer make one. This was frustrating, considering I could have easily enjoyed attentive service and unlimited coffee at the club lounge on the 34th floor. Overall, this experience was very disappointing. I understand that it was close to closing time, but that should never justify cold service or food that’s unfit to be served. Guests deserve care and hospitality regardless of the hour. Sadly, this visit left me feeling unwelcome — and I decided not to return to the main breakfast restaurant again. Meal type: Breakfast Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3
