Hidden is one of the most authentic izakayas in Hong Kong. Run by a lovely Japanese couple, they specialize in kushikatsu (fried skewers) featuring a rotating selection of fresh seasonal seafood, meat, and vegetables. I recently enjoyed their shirako and Hotaru-ika — both incredibly fresh and interesting! The drink menu is quite unique, with a nice variety of plum wines and fruit wines. While the sake selection is relatively small, everything pairs beautifully with the food. Their Japanese side dishes, like the potato salad and fish cake, are also excellent. The service is warm and attentive, and the boss speaks fluent English and Chinese, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. This place is very popular and almost always fully booked, so reservations are highly recommended. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Japanese izakaya vibes and great kushikatsu!
