JIN PAI ZI CHAR serves up solid, comforting zi char dishes at very reasonable prices. The food is genuinely good and definitely value for money. Portions are generous, flavours are punchy, and everything tastes freshly cooked We enjoyed dishes like cereal prawn, prawn paste chicken and sambal kang kong — all well-executed and satisfying. It’s the kind of hearty, no-frills zi char you crave for family dinners The only downside was the waiting time. We had to wait about an hour for our food as there were many customers but only one service staff and one cook managing everything. You can see they are working very hard, but understandably things move slowly during peak hours Price per person: $1–10 Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

I ordered Indonesian Butter Chicken Rice. It is fried with kicap manis, shallot and chilli which make is very spicy and flavourful. It goes extremely well with rice, probably 2 servicing of rice. It does taste like marmite chicken. Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

A surprise discovery at Alexandra Village Hawker Centre. The service is good, chef is friendly and most of all, the food is delicious and value for money. We ordered fried rice, sweet and sour fish and prawn paste chicken all for only $23! We thought we heard wrongly! There are 8 pieces of fish freshly and nicely cooked for the sweet and sour dish and it’s only $10. And there are shrimps in the fried rice too! We will definitely be back to try other dishes. We saw single diners order the curry fish head and rice to eat. Guess it must be good too. Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
