Hands down the best Shabu Shabu & Sukiyaki dining experience. Yes, you read it right. BOTH Shabu shabu and sukiyaki. 16 courses, $80, including 2 x Snow Crab Legs, Hokkaido snow pork and 4 different types of Wagyu Perfect for date nights or when you’re craving a damn good Japanese meal. Love it that it also has a personal touch when Val also shared passionately about the ingredients. They went to great lengths to procure some of these amazingly fresh ingredients directly from Japan so diners get to enjoy it. My favourite cut has got to be their A5 Ohmi Beef. Melts in your mouth, has that subtle sweet fragrance and fatty beef flavour. It goes superbly well with the egg wash. Just dunk the whole thing in. Had an exceptional experience at KAGAMI. What stood out immediately was the intentionality behind the entire dining journey—the team took the time to walk us through each course, explaining not just what we were eating, but how every element was meant to be enjoyed. The selection of wagyu cuts and kurobuta was impressive, with each cut showcasing distinct textures and flavour profiles. Ingredient quality was consistently high across the board, and more importantly, everything was curated to complement one another seamlessly. A particularly strong differentiator was the in-house sauces and condiments. These were not just accompaniments, but integral components that elevated the overall experience, adding depth and nuance to each bite. Overall, a well-executed omakase that reflects strong culinary thought process, attention to detail, and a team that clearly takes pride in delivering a guided, immersive dining experience.
