You would not have seen me at KFC — but this time, I came with purpose. The Samyang Buldak Carbonara Double Down had called my name, and novelty or not, I answered. The chicken cutlet held its own — genuinely spicy, with enough heat to feel intentional rather than decorative. Paired with the Samyang Buldak Carbonara sauce, it worked better than it had any right to. The creamy, fiery carbonara brought something KFC’s usual playbook doesn’t — a collaboration that actually made sense on the palate. Is it a gimmick? Partly. But a well-executed one. If this ever returns to the menu, I’ll be back — and that’s not something I say lightly about a fast food chain. The one letdown: the signature sauce was unavailable. A minor frustration, but when you make a special trip, you want the full picture. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20 Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2 Vegetarian options: Nothing for you except fries, whipped potato.
