Coming to the end of the second week of my fifth visit to Bangkok, and I’ve just had one of the best meals in this town yet, right here at Krungthai Bistro! Chose this place out of convenience, and my own laziness to walk a step further from the hotel - am I glad I did! Thai food is great, and almost every restaurant around here can serve up a solid meal; but after a while, the rich flavours and playful spice can start to numb your palate, and have you (and your tummy) quietly yearning for a little break. If that’s where you’re at, then this kitchen right here is the intermission you didn’t know you needed. Flavours are gentler, with a sprinkling of sweetness. There’s no punch here; but maybe a little pinch on the cheeks - reassuring you that it’s OK to finish everything on the plate. Try the “Thai omelette soup with minced pork”. It’s a hug from your Thai mum. Ranking the atmosphere 5 stars precisely because this place is entirely nondescript. Making it the perfect spot to take a break from the “Bangkok of it all.” Prices are way more than fair considering their portions. These are honest folks trying to earn an honest living - and you can taste it. These are not dishes that want to be talked about; they are the kind of food that reminds you to have taken a shower before dinner so you can put your feet up and get cozy after.
