リーズナブルにローカルなフードを食べれる。写真はチリクラブ、カエルの炒め物と牛肉を使った胡椒炒め。チリクラブと胡椒炒めは辛め。カエルは意外と美味しかった。

チャイナタウンにある賑やかなお店。入口がオープンなので冷房の効きは全くよくなく、店も中国のローカル店ぐらいな清潔さ（笑）で、接待とかには向きませんが、同僚でワイワイご飯を食べて飲みに行くにはよいお店です。（若干雑だけど）安くて美味しい中華料理が食べれます。

After a consecutive streak of dining at various local food courts, we decided it was high time for a proper, elevated, sit-down culinary experience. Turning away from the usual casual fare, I did a targeted search through the Michelin Bib Gourmand listings to find something truly exceptional, which led us straight to the legendary Kok Sen Restaurant. Suffice it to say, our expectations were not only met—they were completely shattered. We arrived around 8:00 PM to find a formidable queue snaking out the door. Because we hadn't pre-booked, we had to brave a considerable 30-minute wait. Stepping inside, the vibrant, bustling dining room was packed entirely to the brim, radiating the unmistakable energy of a culinary institution firing on all cylinders. What followed was an unexpected, visceral gastronomic revelation. Frankly, the written accolades this place receives online don't do the actual food justice. We ordered two of their defining dishes, and they completely wowed us: Signature Big Prawn Hor Fun: A towering, luxurious masterclass of wok-hei. The velvety rice noodles swam in a rich, deeply savory, and beautifully viscous egg gravy that carried an incredible depth of seafood umami. The prawns were massive, pristine, and perfectly snappy. We unashamedly polished off the entire bowl. Prawn Paste Chicken (Har Cheong Gai): Absolute perfection. The shattering crispiness of the golden-brown batter yielded to remarkably succulent, deeply marinated chicken that sang with the funky, savory depth of premium fermented prawn paste. It was an absolutely irresistible bite. To go from days of relatively mediocre meals to this was a profound revelation. By Singapore standards, the pricing is remarkably reasonable, especially considering the exceptionally generous portion sizes. It is worth every single penny; we practically cleared the plates down to the very last morsel. Kok Sen has officially secured a permanent spot on my Singapore itinerary. When I return on my next trip, this will be my very first stop. Do not hesitate—just go, brave the queue, and let your tastebuds thank you later! Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–40
