Underwhelming food and mediocre service. The signature thick noodle's not for everyone's liking, go for the sesame sauce if keen to order. One soup a bit salty, another too bland. Won't be back. Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3 Price per person: $10–20

The udon here is very enjoyable, especially the thick, flat variety which really stands out. Overall, the food quality is good and there isn’t much to complain about on that front. That said, I feel there are a few areas where the experience could be improved. For instance, the udon was served with the order receipt placed directly on top, which didn’t feel very hygienic for a dining setting. Additionally, the hotpot soup was served at a vigorous boil — while it’s great that it was hot, it did splash a little and ended up staining my clothes. On a positive note, the staff were polite and courteous throughout, which I appreciated. With a bit more attention to these details, the overall dining experience could be even better. I visited Kyo Komachi recently and ordered the nabeyaki set. The broth was very bland and lacked depth, and I had to request shoyu just to make it flavourful. The beef slices were mostly fat, which made the dish feel jelak rather than comforting. The udon itself tasted like generic frozen noodles and didn’t stand out in terms of texture or chew. I also had beef bowl side dish, it was extremely salty. What bothered me most was the hygiene, there were flies constantly hovering around our table, which really affected our appetite and is quite concerning for a dining establishment. I believe people are only giving 5 stars reviews to get the free pudding. Overall, this was a disappointing experience and I don’t see myself returning anytime soon. Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1
