家族連れに優しいのは良いけれど、大きな声で騒ぐ子どもたちが近くのテーブルに二組もいて。うるさくて話ができないほどだった。お料理はおいしかったが、記念日のディナーがかなり台無しだった。でも、誕生日のケーキを出してくれて、それについてはチャージなしという粋なはからいが、素晴らしいと思いました。. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $100+

Having experienced 27 Lunar New Years in Singapore since 1999 : ) , I attended an exquisite LNY lunch at Man Fu Yuan Restaurant at the Intercontinental Hotel. In summary, it was an outstanding experience from the start (with some hiccups regarding the tea selection at the beginning) until the end. Having been to several LNY meals over the past few days, Man Fu Yuan was the crowning conclusion to the Year Of The Horse series. The dishes were presented very appealingly despite running a full house. This included the beautifully designed Yu Sheng dish complete with mystic fog from the hidden dry ice base - quite a spectacle : ) . The other dishes also appeared bespoke and appetizing and not at all as 'commoditized' LNY fare as in many other restaurants that opt for quantity and turnover over quality and experience. The hiccup at the beginning related to the tea selection, whereby one of the more senior staff declined to accommodate a pregnant guest who wanted to have a caffeine-free pot vs the group that opted for Pu-er tea, even though we would of course have happily paid for it. In the end I walked to the High Tea restaurant at L1 to obtain a few teabags of chamomile tea that we placed in a mug of hot water since I didn't want to engage or negotiate anymore with the somewhat belligerent staff on a simple pot of tea. That unsavoury experience aside, the staff were superb. Another small inconsistency related to the salmon skin as part of the Yu Sheng dish that tasted somewhat stale and not crispy, though management graciously recovered that later on as part of the meal. One specific staff member stood out truly, namely Ms Joanne. She was kind, cheerful, helpful, engaging, hospitable, swift, observant, and a real treasure as observed by all guests at the table. I hope that her management will recognize her for her superb service attitude and aptitude. I will for sure be back after the LNY rush for a more peaceful Dim Sum lunch one of these lunchtimes : ) Meal type: Lunch Price per person: SGD 60–70 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
