Dropped by Mariners' Corner Restaurant at Clementi on a Tuesday evening for dinner with two friends and our furry companion, and we had a lovely time! We didn’t make any reservations, but were lucky enough to snag one of the four outdoor pet-friendly tables available. The staff kindly served us plain water as soon as we sat down (even though we didn’t ask), which was a nice touch of hospitality. Since we had our dog with us, we chose to dine outdoors. There’s no aircon outside, of course, but ceiling fans helped keep the area cool and breezy, and thankfully, it wasn’t a warm night. We ordered the Chicken Chop (served on a hotplate), upgraded it to a set meal which came with pumpkin soup (soup of the day), a small salad, garlic bread, and a choice of soft drink/coffee/tea. We also had the Sirloin Steak (also sizzling on a hotplate), Salmon with salad and creamy sauce, and a side of Fried Calamari. Total bill came up to around $110 for 3 pax, which we felt was very reasonable for the portions and quality. The baked potato that came with the steak and chicken chop was a standout — served with your choice of three garnishes: spring onions, fried garlic, and sour cream. The server even came around to ask which toppings we’d like added, a small gesture that really elevated the experience. Portions were generous, flavors were satisfying, and the service was warm and attentive. Also, parking was easy and affordable, we paid just $1.40 for under 2 hours. Overall, a great hidden gem for classic Western fare with a nostalgic touch and even better, it’s pet-friendly! Will definitely come back again.
