I don’t usually write food reviews for Singapore, partly because I’ve always felt like Singaporeans don’t really read reviews anyway. But after witnessing first-hand a rather unpleasant customer experience that the owners had to deal with, I felt compelled to leave a review as a small show of support. I was genuinely surprised to see that it’s sitting at only 3.9 stars (what???) Looking through the reviews afterwards, I also found it quite stupid that many of the complaints seem to come from what I would consider very unreasonable service expectations for a small shop like this. For example, being unhappy about having to wait around 20 minutes for food, or getting upset because a dish was delivered to the wrong table. I’ve been here twice in the past month. My dad was the one who introduced me to the place because he used to come here quite regularly with his colleagues. Both times, I really enjoyed the service. The first time, we ordered their pandan chicken which comes in 4. Noticed that there were 5 when it came, and I asked about it. Owner said that it was because one of the chickens had been wrapped slightly smaller. Honestly, I didn’t think it looked small at all. But the fact that they proactively gave us an extra portion for something I probably wouldn’t even have noticed really struck me. It felt like such a simple but genuine example of 良心生意. The second visit was an even better example of the kind of people running this place. My dad is a huge Coke drinker. He basically only drinks Coke. Unfortunately, they had run out that day. Instead of simply telling us that they were out, the boss actually went to a neighbouring hawker centre and bought two bottles for us. And he didn’t just buy the two that we needed. He bought extra so that other customers who wanted Coke could have some too. It may sound like a small thing, but I think these little details tell you a lot about a business. He was essentially buying the drinks at retail price instead of getting them through bulk supply, just to make sure his customers had what they wanted. There was no fuss about it. They simply seemed to care. That’s really the impression I’ve gotten of the boss and his wife. They’re just a lovely couple trying to make an honest living, while genuinely taking pride in looking after their customers. And thankfully, the food lives up to the service. The portions are very reasonable, if not generous, and the pandan chicken is an absolute must-order. The olive fried rice is also really good. Personally, I especially enjoyed the yellow curry sotong and the green curry. Both were very flavourful and went really well with the rice. Prices are reasonable too. NO GST in this economy is honestly quite something. Ultimately, I’m always happy to support a local business when the combination of good food and genuinely good service is there. But more than that, I think small businesses deserve a little appreciation when you come across owners who clearly care about what they do and the people they serve. Really hope more people give this place a try. They deserve the support. Don’t have much pictures (some are even half eaten) because I didn’t think Singaporeans cared about reviews, but apparently we do so yes…. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $10–20

Hi JocelynThank you for your heartfelt review! It has truly touched us in a very different way we are very glad that you and your dad enjoyed our food and appreciated the service that we provided. We sincerely apologised for the very unpleasant moments that you had to witness earlier on. It was truly undesirable and unnecessary. Unfortunately, when our boss approached the customer who caused the commotion and left without paying, he ended up being physically attacked by her . He did not held his cool and did not retaliate. Despite SPF showing up, due to the system the rowdy customer was able to walk away tonight without repercussion. This episode is greatly disturbing and caused us much distress to the point of questioning our purpose in business and life. Nonetheless, reading your review gave us a little glimpse of hope that there is still some good around. Thank you once again and we hope to serve you soon! God bless you and please tell your dad to go easy on the coke
