If you’re looking for one of the most popular restaurants on Koh Mak, then Q Bar Restaurant is definitely the place to go. When we arrived around 7:30 p.m., the place was already packed, and we had to wait a bit for a table. Luckily, the staff was efficient and friendly, so it didn’t take long before we were seated. But the popularity of this place speaks for itself — throughout the night, people kept coming in and leaving because there were simply no tables available. That being said, be prepared to wait for your food. The service was kind and the staff did their best, but the kitchen was clearly overwhelmed. The chef seemed very professional and passionate, but it was obvious he had more orders than he could handle. In our case, the food took about an hour and a half to arrive. If you come here, make sure you have time and patience — it’s not a place for a quick bite, but rather for a relaxed dinner. Now, about the food itself — it was worth the wait. The coconut soup was absolutely delicious, creamy and rich in flavor, one of the highlights of the meal. The papaya salad was also very good, fresh and well-balanced, with just the right amount of spice. The biggest surprise was the Pad Thai, which they prepare using pasta instead of traditional rice noodles — an unusual twist, but honestly, it was amazing. The flavor was intense, and the texture of the pasta worked surprisingly well with the sauce and toppings. I also tried the coconut shake, which was good, though not outstanding. I’ve tried better ones elsewhere, but to be fair, I haven’t found a truly great coconut shake anywhere on this island yet. Overall, Q Bar Restaurant offers excellent Thai food, friendly service, and a great atmosphere, but you have to plan for the wait. It’s clearly one of the busiest spots in Koh Mak for a reason — people know the food is worth it. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ฿200–400 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
