Had such a lovely meal here. The snail pork sausage was absolutely delicious and something we thoroughly enjoyed. The veal schnitzel was also excellent. My partner, who is German, said it was honestly one of the best veal schnitzels he’s ever had. Beyond the food, what really makes this place special is the warmth of the experience. The owners are incredibly kind and welcoming, and the atmosphere feels cosy and genuine in a way that makes you want to stay a little longer. We also really appreciated that pets are welcome in the outdoor seating area, which is always a huge plus for us. Definitely a place we’ll keep coming back to with friends and family. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $70–80 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Went for dinner being close to the airport. Had Weiner Schnitzel (veal), Pork Schnitzel and Beef Cheek. As the chef noted on passing our table every plate was clean even gravy was gone! It may be a neighbourhood eating spot but it comes with restaurant prices. But the portions are hearty so that balances things out. It was kinda busy ( half full) around 7.30 pm ( closed by 10pm). Usually have to wait slightly for your meal and that’s because the lone chef does the cooking. But being the Executive Chef and multi award winning chef he will have your plates to your table piping hot and in quick succession so everyone can eat together. For authentic Austrian, have Weiner Schnitzel. Highly recommended- the beef cheek which is flavourful, meat that cuts with a fork, carrots cooked without becoming mushy, sitting on wonderful mash like an island surrounded by delicious gravy. The Schnitzel is always good - flat and thinned covered with a tasty crust. French fries come with the pork schnitzel and as one who isn’t a fan of fries thanks to fast food joints - I would happily eat those at Schnitzel Haus as they don’t taste processed and are of the quality of Pomme Frites that French chefs would cook and eat with their steaks. Before digressing, I recommend a visit at dinner, order the draft beer and nibble a pretzel while waiting your mains. Take the chef specials like pork knuckle or roast chicken if available. If you can only make lunch, have the affordable set lunch. No photos of food as the meal was devoured quickly. It is always a thrill when a specialized eatery opens up in the neighborhood, especially when it promises the hearty, comforting flavors of Central Europe. I walked into Schnitzel Haus Wolfgang Ranner with high hopes, eager to find a local go-to for authentic German and Austrian fare. Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite live up to the anticipation. Atmosphere and Setting. The restaurant presents itself as a specialized German haunt, and while the initial setup seemed promising, the atmosphere felt somewhat disconnected from the dining experience. While the menu was introduced with some enthusiasm, the physical environment couldn't quite mask the mounting frustration of the service gaps that followed. Food and Drinks. For a place with "Schnitzel" in the name, expectations for the food are naturally high. However, the culinary execution felt lackluster. The stew was particularly underwhelming; it lacked the depth of flavor and slow-cooked richness one expects from a traditional German kitchen. It tasted like something easily replicated at home or found at a much lower price point in a standard western food stall. The sides were equally disappointing. The wedges served with the mains were clearly of the frozen, supermarket variety, which is a tough pill to swallow when you are paying premium prices. At approximately $40 per main course, you expect hand-cut potatoes or at least a high-quality preparation. Instead, the portion sizes felt modest and the flavors remained strictly average, never quite reaching the "wow" factor that justifies a specialized restaurant price tag. Service. The most significant hurdle of the evening was the service. Despite the restaurant not being particularly busy, we waited roughly 45 minutes for our food to arrive. During this long stretch, the staff seemed to vanish entirely. This pattern continued even after the food arrived. Once the mains were served, the waitstaff disappeared again, leaving a mountain of empty plates on our table. When dessert finally arrived, no effort was made to clear the previous course. We found ourselves awkwardly holding our dessert plates or shuffling dirty dishes aside just to find a clean square inch of table space. It felt as though once the food hit the table, the staff's responsibility ended. Price and Value. This is where the math simply doesn't add up. With mains hovering around the $40 mark, the value proposition is weak. When the quality of the ingredients and the level of service mirror what you might find at a local coffeeshop or a budget-friendly hawker stall for a fraction of the cost, it becomes difficult to justify the expense. You are paying a 2x to 3x markup for an experience that, in this instance, felt cut-rate. Conclusion. It is never pleasant to write a lukewarm review for a new local business, but Schnitzel Haus Wolfgang Ranner has some significant hurdles to overcome. Between the long wait times, the disappearing service, and food that feels more like a home-cooked meal than a professional culinary effort, the "Haus" currently feels a bit empty. My search for a truly great German or Austrian spot in the area continues. The Verdict:. I cannot recommend this spot in its current state. It might appeal to those who are desperate for a Schnitzel fix and don't mind a long wait, but for most, the high price point and lackluster service make it a "one and done" experience.
