シンガポールで南インド料理を食べるなら、一度は訪れたい名店です。長年愛されてきた理由が、お店に入った瞬間の活気や昔ながらの雰囲気から自然と伝わってきました。名物のフィッシュヘッドカレーはスパイスの香りが豊かで、辛さの中にしっかりとした旨味があり、ご飯との相性が抜群。バナナリーフに料理が提供されるスタイルも本場らしさを感じられ、食事そのものが楽しい体験になります。スタッフの手際も良く、混雑していても比較的スムーズに食事ができました。デンプシーヒルの緑に囲まれたロケーションも心地よく、観光客だけでなく地元の方が多く訪れるのも納得です。シンガポールらしい食文化を味わいたい方には、ぜひおすすめしたい一軒です。. Samy's Curry Restaurant is one of Singapore's oldest and most iconic South Indian restaurants. Established in the 1950s, this family-run institution is nestled in the lush surroundings of Dempsey Hill, offering a relaxed setting that feels worlds away from the city's busy streets. We visited with a group of friends and were seated around a large round table. As soon as we sat down, the staff laid fresh banana leaves in front of each guest, following the traditional South Indian dining style. One of the most memorable moments was watching the servers generously scoop rice onto the banana leaf. You simply say "stop" when you've had enough, with a choice of either steamed rice or fragrant biryani. Our table shared a wide variety of curries, vegetables, seafood, and side dishes, allowing everyone to sample a little of everything. Every dish was packed with bold spices and rich flavors, making for a truly memorable meal. Despite visiting Singapore many times over the years, this was our first authentic South Indian dining experience, and it exceeded our expectations. If you're looking to discover a different side of Singapore's food scene beyond hawker centres, Samy's Curry Restaurant is a destination well worth visiting.
