Short version: The food was okay. Not too bad. A little bit inconsistent. Price is ok but given tthe level of service, maybe too high. The service was okay, although the lady seemed... unhappy? I don't know. The blueberry muffin was extraordinarily good. Toilet was horrifying. I would probably not go again. More details: When we arrived we had just gotten off the ferry and we're looking forward to spending the day exploring this small island. We chose this restaurant from the reviews online and the pictures. It all looked pretty good. So when we got there we went inside and it was a little unclear what we should do. We found that we could just seat it ourselves. The woman behind the counter seemed nice enough, but she didn't seem to smile. She looked almost a little bit upset. This set a weird tone. After looking at the menus, we decided we wanted to try the sandwiches, but then we discovered that the sandwiches were in a case at the counter and we would have to go and take a look at what they had and then choose, order at the counter and then the lady would bring it to us. Obviously we got this figured out, but it was a little bit awkward. We ordered three sandwiches and a muffin. I'll start with the muffin because that was really the star of the show. It was really quite good. I've not really had a blueberry muffin that good before, so full credit on the blueberry muffin. Let's move on to the sandwiches. My wife ordered an avocado egg croissant. It looked pretty good, but I think it was kind of lackluster. The boiled eggs inside were slightly overcooked, but this is probably not a big deal. My god-daughter and I ordered a turkey BLT bagel. This was kind of interesting because her BLT bagel came with BL and T, and some ketchup. My BLT came with B and L. No T. And I was given no ketchup. Additionally, the cheese for this sandwich was kind of sprinkled into the hole in the top of the bagel and they had melted it before serving. Although this is kind of novel, it was not very practical. I ended up getting a big bite of cheese right in the center. To be honest, the scariest part of this visit was the toilets. There were two cockroaches dead on the floor near the toilets. I realize and understand toilets will never be the best part of any restaurant, and this is not a five-star hotel or anything like that. But the experience was seriously grim. The fact that the male toilet seriously lacked any kind of door was kind of a scary thing considering I have 2 daughters. I understand that this is a small shop on a very small island and they have limited opportunity to expand or grow, so maybe they are comfortable with their regular clientel, and the indifferent to the visitors. They also have a kind of games room where you can play billiards and table football and watch TV, I guess. But I'm not sure why the woman working was a little bit cool towards us. She wasn't rude or anything, but her smile was kind of like, looked like she was annoyed with us being there for some reason. I know that's subjective, but just sharing. I would much prefer to give a review that says they were really welcoming, smiling and did their best to make us feel at home. But that simply didn't happen. I'm only saying this because sometimes I will choose small, lesser-known shops like this because I hope they do well. I really want them to succeed but this one doesn't seem to be trying and maybe they don't have to. Or maybe foreigners/expats are ok with this? But if you're reading this review this far, then maybe this will help you make a better decision than I did. Meal type: Brunch Price per person: $50–100 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2

Ms Aysha’s (cafe staff) friendliness and warm smile made all the difference to my experience at this cafe! Had a wonderful quiet afternoon tea time here - fruit waffles (freshly made - fragrant and of just the right texture) and turmeric latte (special item). Made by Ms Aysha. Cafe is right by the pier and has chill vibes. Ms Aysha’s excellent service and the casual chat with her made my visit to Peng Chau even more memorable! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
