Second time coming to Small Batch @ Botanic Gardens during their supposed business hours and… surprise, they’re “closed” AGAIN. Today there was a sign saying they were closed, but when we asked the staff, we were told the kitchen only has one chef and the waiting time is 20–30 minutes. Meanwhile, there were already plenty of tables still waiting for their food. Instead of managing the situation properly, the solution seems to be putting up a random “closed” sign during operating hours. The last time we came a few months ago, it was the exact same story — except that time the excuse was that they had run out of ingredients. Imagine a restaurant running out of ingredients… during business hours. At this point it feels like visiting this place is a gamble. Will they actually be open? Will they have ingredients? Will there be enough staff to run a kitchen? Who knows. Running out of ingredients and scheduling only one chef are basic operational issues, not unforeseeable emergencies. Customers shouldn’t have to show up and discover the restaurant has essentially decided to stop operating for the day. Management seriously needs to get their act together because this level of poor planning is honestly quite ridiculous. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
