Forget the guidebooks and the neon traps. If you want the real soul of Japan, you get off the train in Ofuna and find Sushi Masa. This is a family-run portal to another era. The patriarch has been behind that counter for over 60 years, his hands moving with a muscle memory that only comes from a lifetime of devotion. We showed up with a group of students, and the pretense of being "customers" evaporated instantly. We were guests in a home. Delicious starters arrived once we sat down in the traditional Japanese tables. They accommodated our vegan student with vegetable maki with the same pristine care as the fish. The meal ended with a miso soup that felt like a warm embrace, while the grandmother sat and drew pictures for our students. This is the antidote to sanitized travel. It’s lineage, labor, and pure heart. It’s life-changing because it’s honest. To the wonderful family at Sushi Masa—thank you for welcoming us into your home. The meal was spectacular, but the kindness you showed our students is what we will never forget. We felt like family. We will be back someday! It’s a classy, traditional spot, and you get the sense that people with great taste come here. The chef’s sushi is amazing—fresh, firm, and full of flavor. There are also plenty of small dishes that go perfectly with drinks. The grilled tuna wrapped in shiso leaves was incredibly soft and delicious. And of course, the tuna sushi is a must. It just melted on my tongue. なんとも上質な空間で、老舗。 舌の肥えた人たちが集まっていると言う印象です。 大将がしっかりと握ってくれるお寿司たちが素晴らしく、プリプリ。お酒のあてになるような一品料理も色々と整っています。大葉で包んだマグロの包み焼きはホロホロととろけるような食感で美味です。 そしてやっぱり食べて欲しいのは、マグロ！口の中でとろけていくようでした。. 大船駅前で昔から営業しているお寿司屋です。80歳を超える大将は元々新橋でお店をやっていたそうです。毎日河岸の豊洲までネタを買いに行っているそうです。ネタはとても新鮮です。 夜は予約して伺ってください。日本酒もイロイロな銘柄が置いてあって楽しいです。 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
