Dining at Tai Er Suancai & Fish offers simple yet tasty dishes that are full of flavour. The fried pork sticks are a must-order—crispy, addictive, and absolutely elevated when paired with the mala chili flakes. The stir-fried shredded potatoes are another standout, delivering a nice smoky wok hei aroma with a satisfying crunch. The sliced pork jowl feels like a Chinese take on bossam—wrapping the tender pork with fresh vegetables makes every bite light yet delicious. For something different, the fried rice cake with a scoop of ice cream is a fun and enjoyable combination, though it would be even better if there were options to add extra scoops. We intentionally skipped their signature sauerkraut fish soup to explore other dishes, but one tip—do order at least one dish with gravy or soup-based dish to go with the rice, otherwise the meal might feel a bit too dry. Very nice suan cai fish at Tai Er. The atmosphere was surprisingly pleasant and calm, even though the restaurant was almost fully packed. I also ordered the mapo tofu, which was very flavourful, though it packed quite a spicy kick. The suan cai fish was easily one of the best I have had and is an absolute must-order when visiting. Even the rice stood out, smooth, fragrant, and surprisingly premium in texture. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $30–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
