I was in the area on a weekday and decided to give this celebrity chain a shot without expecting too much. On first impression, the menu reminded me of another brand, FSP. I got the soup, yam rice, and a serving of fried fish slices for $13.20. Since I arrived just before noon, there was no queue and in fact the food court was actually pretty quiet. I was surprised by the large portion of soup and it tasted really good. It is almost like having fish steamboat 鱼头卢 but in an individual portion. The batang fish slices with skin was retained were okay. They were not overly marinated, though the slices could have been more evenly cut. I was grateful for the tofu, tomato, and seaweed, which added to the flavour. This is how a true milky fish broth should be, even though no milk was added unlike those milky imposters that just add evaporated milk as a shortcut. The fried fish has potential but it was served cold and hard. It was unacceptable as I was early. I am not a fan of Tioman fish, but since it is not the peasant dory and some earlier reviews raved about it, I thought I would give it a try. At least there was no muddy taste, but this will be the first and last time. I would rather spend that $4 on topping up my soup with other ingredients. The real highlight for me is the yam rice. It is finally a balanced tasting rice that isn't too oily, and the yam chunks has the melt in your mouth kind of textute. The free flowing soy bean chilli also helped to elevate the food too. A downside was a "miscom" where I was charged for an extra serving of veg which i didn't ask for, making my order $0.80 more expensive than it should have been. There is no itemised bill shown when ordering, and the soup is displayed as a single price even with add-ons. Do make sure you check your bill before paying. Soup is inconsistent day to day. Auntie with acrylic nails knocks her nails on bowls while handling them, not good for health, should wear gloves or not put so much chemicals on them. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2
