Extremely grumpy couple :(. Asked for black vinegar it's as if asking them to pay a million dollar. Meepok also undercooked and hard. Ordered $6 big meepok but portion is so small. Uncle the maintained his sour face and Auntie constantly showed super unhappy face as if I owe her money :(. Gosh.. Worst experience ever. Why like that?

I stumbled upon this stall ("Teochew Fishball Minced Meat Noodle" at Food Hub) and ordered their dry Fishball Minced Meat Noodles with Mee Pok. The Verdict: It is very good, but you need to know what you are eating. This is NOT Bak Chor Mee (BCM); it is a proper bowl of Teochew Fishball Noodles. The Difference: Don't come here expecting the vinegar-forward punch or the distinct savoury depth of tee poh (dried sole fish) that defines a classic BCM. The chilli is also different—it's not the typical BCM sambal style. Why it's still great: Despite not being BCM, it stands on its own merits. The Mee Pok was cooked perfectly al dente—springy with a great bite. The sauce mix was flavourful and savoury, coating the noodles well. The Ingredients: The toppings are generous—bouncy fishballs, sliced fish cake, minced meat, and fresh crispy lard croutons (you can add more on you own, there's a box of it next to the utensils) that add a wonderful texture. It was so satisfying that after finishing my bowl, I immediately ordered 4 more packets to take away for my family. If you appreciate a solid, traditional Teochew Fishball noodle, this gets my stamp of approval. Price per person: $1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3
