A Little Slice of Spain in Bangtao — Absolutely Wonderful! VAMOS has quickly become one of my favourite spots on the island, and for good reason. Tucked inside The Society on Lagoon Road, the setting alone is worth the visit — bright, airy, and beautifully designed, with floor-to-ceiling windows that make the whole space feel warm and welcoming without being pretentious. But the real star is the food. The tapas menu is fantastic — we started with the Gambas con Ajillo (garlicky, perfectly cooked prawns with just the right kick of chilli) and the Serrano Ham Croquetas, which were golden and crisp on the outside, creamy within. Absolutely addictive. The Paella Surf & Turf was the showstopper of the evening — bomba rice, saffron, lobster, clams, chorizo and shrimp all coming together in that gorgeous, slightly-charred socarrat way that tells you the kitchen really knows what they’re doing. You can feel the experience behind the cooking — Chef Rene brings over 30 years of culinary craft to every dish, and his commitment to local, sustainable ingredients gives everything a freshness that’s hard to find. Washed down with a well-made Sangria and a cold Estrella Galicia, it was a near-perfect meal. Service was warm, efficient, and genuinely friendly — the staff made us feel like regulars from the first visit. Whether you’re after a lazy lunch, a romantic dinner, or just tapas and drinks with friends, VAMOS delivers every time. Phuket has needed a proper Spanish restaurant for a long time.
