If you’re looking for an authentic, no-fuss Hong Kong dining experience that hits the spot, this local joint is well worth a visit. The Food Highlights: Roast Duck: Absolutely stellar. Perfectly roasted, incredibly flavorful, and easily the highlight of the meal. Chicken Curry: A pleasant surprise! It leans toward a milder, comforting profile that strongly reminds me of a classic Japanese chicken curry. Cozy and delicious. Crispy Wontons: Fried to perfection with a great crunch. A must-order side. Don't let the crowds scare you off; the staff runs a tight ship and the service is impressively fast and efficient. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

The place itself is quite small, so when it’s packed, it may not feel very comfortable. We tried the shrimp wonton soup, half roasted goose, deep fried chicken wings, seasonal vegetables in oyster sauce, and their crispy fried fish skin. The soup was mild and served hot, and it was decent. The chicken wings were very tasty, which honestly surprised me. The roasted goose was flavorful and quite tender in most parts, although the skin was not crispy at all. The vegetables were simple but really hit the spot. The standout for me was the fried fish skin. It was thin, crispy, warm, and incredibly delicious. As a fish skin lover, I enjoyed it so much that we ended up ordering another portion. Price-wise, I think it’s reasonable. We spent around 600 to 700 for three people, including three bowls of rice and three milk teas. The milk tea was very good as well, even better than some bubble tea shops in the city. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: HK$200–250 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Yuen Kee Restaurant is a small but fantastic spot serving up a huge menu of authentic Hong Kong favorites. We ordered their Wanton Noodles, and they were excellent! The noodles had the perfect springy, firm texture, and the shrimp wantons were huge and filled with shrimp. The fish wantons were unique and delicious as well! We couldn’t resist ordering the stewed beef mixed plate after seeing how tasty it looked on the menu, and it did not disappoint. The beef brisket was melt-in-your-mouth tender, the beef tendons were perfectly cooked, and the tripe was so flavorful. Service was fast and friendly. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and would definitely recommend Yuen Kee for an authentic local taste of Hong Kong! One small note: Their roast meat dishes are only available after 11 AM, so plan accordingly if that’s what you’re craving.
