We had a wonderful dim sum experience at this neighborhood restaurant today. I thought the food was very good, esp their century egg porridge, steamed pork ribs, char siew bao and chickens feet. It’s not fancy but that’s adds to the charmtand it comes at an affordable price point. Feels like what Singapore should be. I’ll be back. It is a traditional Cantonese dim sum restaurant that has been operating in Singapore for a long time. They sell porridge, noodles, steamed paos, steamed dim sum and fried items like prawn dumplings with mayo. We ordered their pu er tea by the pot, barley, prawn dumplings, steamed siew mai 烧卖, chicken claws 凤爪 and pork ribs with yam. It was ok at best, but since the grandparents like it, we always come back here for brunch as a family. The lady boss is not very cordial with her staff, and tends to scold them in front of the customers. I can see that the usual crowd has diminished significantly over the years, as food and service has dipped. Meal type: Brunch Price per person: SGD 20–30 Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3

We visited Zi Yean twice, the first time was in 2023, the food was not really good and the service was lacking (short staffed). However, Zi Yean Restaurant surprised us today. The food was amazing, the har gao was stuffed with two large prawns, the siew mai was big and tasty. The preserved vege stuffed chicken was really yummy as well. The service was good too. I'm really glad we have them another chance. I really recommend this place for canto food with a cosy ambience.
