I honestly want to gatekeep this place because from our very first visit on May 24, I already knew I’d be coming back. The ambience is exactly what we look for—cold, cozy, and a perfect escape from Singapore’s humid weather. It’s also not overcrowded, so you can actually enjoy your own space and relax. And of course, the Biscoff Latte deserves a special mention. It was so good that both my boyfriend and I ordered two cups each! We were also served by Nova, who was incredibly warm and friendly. We came back again on May 31 to celebrate my boyfriend with a small surprise. Although Nova wasn’t around that day, the staff were kind enough to help hide the cake and gifts before he arrived. Romme Cafe has officially become our go-to spot. Thank you for the great service and experience, we’ll definitely keep coming back! romme. ( cafe) 16 Flanders Square. Singapore 209303 Location *******************. My hubby and I drove here at night, but if you’re taking the train, this is the easiest route. Alight at Jalan Besar MRT station on the blue Downtown Line, then walk along the main stretch of Jalan Besar. Continue until you reach Petain Road (︎beside Asylum and Average Service Cafe). Walk straight down Petain Road to the end, turn left, and you’ll find Flanders Square. Romme cafe sits in the middle of a row of shophouses. Decor / Ambience ***********************. Romme" means "to accommodate" in Norwegian. The intention is to be a welcoming space. The interior of Romme cafe has a mix of rustic and homely modern touches. ️ Neutral-toned walls and a polished concrete floor create a clean, understated look. Lighting: White pendant lamps, a large spherical Japanese-style paper lantern, and warm ambient lighting give the space a soft, cosy feel. There are three types of seating --- a long wooden communal table with benches, individual armchairs in beige upholstery, and white round tables paired with stylish wooden-metal chairs. Menu / food *****************. Romme's menu features housemade focaccia sandwiches, pastas, sweet items like waffles, and side dishes like Truffle fries, Tempura fritter mushrooms and mushroom soup. The menu also features a variety of coffee concoctions, tea, matcha & chocolate drinks, tiramsu, gelato desserts. I ordered 2 Hot Matcha Lattes and a slice of Foccacia with garlic spread. I also took away 2 pieces of foccacia bread to savour them at home. The Hot Matcha Latte was crafted well. It was a rich, creamy, and earthy green tea ( 抹茶) drink with a smooth, velvety texture. Their signature house-baked Foccacia was super delicious. It had a crispy, golden-brown crust and a soft, airy, and chewy interior filled with large air pockets. I can tell from one bite this is gourmet artisanally crafted foccacia. Service = The two young female staff at the order counter were pleasant, polite and attentive. They were efficient and quick in dishing out our matcha lattes and bread. I hope to return to Romme cafe again to try their other savoury dishes. ︎My hubby and I reached here at a very late hour, and the kitchen was already closed. We ate quickly because we felt "pai-seh", as they were closing in a while. dated 29th Nov 2025. I want to add some heartfelt moments I felt strongly at the cafe. The entire homely setting of Romme reminded me of a Eurasian-Peranakan aunt's house in the late 1960s. It was in Dec 1967 or 1968. I was a very small child playing by the Christmas tree while my late Peranakan father and the older aunt were chatting away. The entire ambience of the cafe suddenly transported me back to the 1960s. It felt strange and surreal- a beautiful and distant memory of the past. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30
