So why come all the way to North Point (not Yishun)? It's to try Hong Kong Hokkien food at 真真美食 after I watched a YouTube video on it. Tried the recommended fried chicken rolls 煎雞捲 (HK$30) and oyster omelette 蠔煎 (HK$74) with some sweet potato porridge 翻署粥 (HK$10). The chicken rolls and oyster omelette were made to order so had to wait. The chicken roll is similar to ngoh heong (五香) or lor bak (if you are Malaysian) but I think ours tastes better. The Hong Kong version is lighter in flavour but I'm used to bold, hearty flavours for my Hokkien food. The oyster omelette was chockful of oysters & a big portion but a bit too greasy without the crispy bits I like so it got monotonous 1/2 way eating it. Again the Singapore version (which I think is Teochew) wins. The small diner serves simple Hokkien food. So if you had enough of 烧味 (Siu Mei) or cha chan teng grease you might want to make a trip here. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: HK$50–100 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
