Food (4 stars). I ordered a chicken broth ramen. The broth was well done -- creamy, rich, and smooth -- I drank it all. The chicken chashu had a smokey flavor to it, but unfortunately one piece was under-marinated. Service (1 star). The person in glasses receiving us was courteous enough. Even apologized for having to make us wait outside in the rain for half an hour Then there was this buff dude with tattoos (let's call him Mr. Buff Waiter) who took our orders. You can tell he was incredibly impatient and short-tempered from his tone alone. In an imposing tone he explained "ONE ORDER ONLY" with no exceptions. I went with the deluxe (HKD 168), praying Mr. Buff Waiter had it noted. And surprise surprise -- I was served a regular (valued at HKD 108), and I spent the whole time wondering if I'll be overcharged! At least in the end I only had to pay HKD 108. Let's not talk about my experience alone -- next to me were an elderly couple who were new to this restaurant. The lady was choosing the texture of the noodles when Mr. Buff Waiter leaned forward to her, WAY too close, as he repeatedly rushed her to make a choice. Even from a distance we can see she was visibly uncomfortable -- she had the EXACT facial expression of someone being held hostage, on the brim of being physically assaulted. This wasn't even the first time. Two years back there was another tall guy in charge of handling orders, who had a habit of bossing customers around -- I was dining there with my family when he yelled at us for not sitting where he wanted us to sit (without telling us where to sit beforehand). The customer next to us even had to stop eating and move ALL her belongings from the stool to the floor, since she never expected us to be ordered to sit next to her. I only came here again, because I saw he's no longer there. I get every restaurant has their own rules, and every owner and staff have their own working style and personalities. For the food alone I would've given four stars since the broth was well done. But this does NOT AT ALL excuse the ATROCIOUS service. It's almost like they have a knack for hiring misfits straight out of prison. Atmosphere (1 star). Not enough seats inside -- customers had to line up outside all-weather, on average 30 minutes and up to an hour, before being let in. And as mentioned, this restaurant has A LOT OF RULES -- (1) You can't order twice, (2) you must guess whoever's in charge where he (last I remember there was no she) wants you to sit, (3) you make up your mind on what to order, or else you basically get the World War II Prisoner of War (POW) treatment (See elderly lady's experience in the Food section). On the outside it looks like your typical high-end Japanese restaurant specializing in ramen, but once you're in there's a 50-50 chance you'd feel like you're dining with a gun pointed to your head. Overall:. Serves decent ramen, though I mean it when I say this restaurant has an inflated ego, as if you won't find any good ramen anywhere else. They most likely won't read this seriously either considering said ego. Nonetheless, as long as you don't accidentally do something that will remotely piss off the staff there... Perhaps you'll have a good time... at least probably... maybe...? Pretty please? YMMV -- Buyers beware! Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $100–150
