The food was amazing and the most flavourful Hansik I have had in my time in Seoul. The owner is quite fluent in English for those who don’t understand or speak Korean. We were escorted to a smaller space with one table for 4 and one for 2 people only- it’s a separate enclosed space so anything you say sort of echoes. You have to order in the main space on a screen and it is then served to you as the food gets cooked. At first it was quite nice as it felt like a private space for two of us however a group of five American tourists were shown to the space as well and after that the atmosphere went downhill quite fast. As is typical of them, they were loud with constant talking making the quiet space turn into somewhat of a concert hall of sorts. Despite multiple attempts to use the Asian way of ‘showing and telling’ people to be softer they continued to be extremely loud throughout which brought the whole experience down. I would definitely recommend the restaurant but maybe wait a little longer to get a space in the main hall lest you get put up in an intimate space with strangers who are not mindful of others as in our case. The best vegan food in Korea!! After traveling with a friend around Korea for two weeks and trying many highly rated vegan and non vegan restaurants, Vegan Insa stands out as some of the best food of the trip. Definitely my favorite food experience in Seoul (the only one I repeated). Their bibimbap and japchae were hands down the best I had (and I had MANY—including bibimbap with real egg). The place itself is also a little oasis inside a traditional style home. The young woman who seems to be both hostess and waitress was kind, friendly, and welcoming. Some of the warmest hospitality I encountered in Korea. Food is all made fresh to order and is flavorful, colorful, and beautifully presented. I’m still in shock after trying their amazing vegan egg. I wish I had discovered this earlier in my trip—I would have come more times. I cannot recommend it enough! A must try!!
