Sokcho Omyeon is almost literally a hole in the wall. It's on the second floor beside the choco pie place on the first street of the tourist market. Take the stairs decorated with band names up to the second floor and you'll find a small space with rock music playing and some seriously good kalguksu with slow-roasted pork. They have kalguksu (handcut noodles) and mandu (dumplings) with tteok (rice cakes). And they have plain bone broth or spicy broth. These elements combine into four basic offerings. (You can also upgrade to a set that includes kimchi.) We tried the non-spicy kalguksu, the non-spicy mandu/tteok, and spicy mandu/tteok. All were delicious. The plain broth is a little bland, but the dipping sauce for the noodles elevates the flavor, and the pork is falling-off-the-bone amazing.
