이사벨라스차이나 is a Chinese restaurant tucked away in Bong-san-dong, Jung-gu, Daegu, and it’s especially known for its spicy jjamppong. I went for the jjamppong, and let me tell you—I was sweating bullets by the time I finished. This isn’t “tourist spicy.” This is the kind of heat that even Koreans hesitate over. Hot, bold, and unapologetic. What really caught my attention, though, was their white jjamppong. Most jjamppong in Korea comes out bright red, but this one’s different. The broth is clean but insanely deep, full of seafood flavor, and clearly simmered with care. The noodles had a great chew to them too—springy and satisfying, not mushy. If you’re into jjamppong and think you’ve tried it all, this place might surprise you. Come hungry, bring a napkin, and be ready to sweat a little. Worth it.
