i’ve been visiting Alchemist for years and have always had good experiences. however, during a recent visit to this branch, i had an uncomfortable encounter with one of the staff members who took my order. throughout the interaction, the staff member - a lady with a pixie haircut and glasses, dressed in a more androgynous style - avoided eye contact, spoke in a very monotone manner and gave me dismissive looks, which made the experience feel unwelcoming. what stood out even more was that when the next customer walked in - who appeared to be a white person - her demeanour changed noticeably (no surprise there lol). her face lit up, and she became much more attentive and friendly. the contrast in attitude was disgustingly obvious. as a long-time customer, this left a very poor impression. no customer should feel singled out or treated differently. the experience was so disappointing that i will not be returning to this particular outlet again.
