Dropped by on a Wednesday morning and it was peaceful with no crowds. Had such a lovely time chatting with the owner. Only the cinnamon twirl was available but it was delicious! I also tried the waffle which was so light and fluffy. The owner also very kindly gave me a pesto twirl to try and it was amazing with the homemade pesto. It deserves a spot on the menu! Will be back again soon to try the croissant and other pastries Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: $1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Cinnamon Twirl

Naming a bakery Quah Song & Co. is a stroke of genius. It is a clever play on words—a pun on the French "croissant" that taps right into the local vernacular. Most Singaporeans, especially the older generation, affectionately refer to these flaky pastries as "Kor Song," a term so familiar it feels like home. Tucked away at Block 2 Everton Park, this little gem sits in an area that is fast becoming a magnet for both the younger Gen Z crowd and curious tourists. Stepping inside, you are greeted by a cheerful owner in his 50s who brings a genuine warmth to the place. The setup is quite peculiar; half the cafe is actually a toy shop, a collaboration with Habits Boutique & Cafe over at SAFRA Mount Faber, giving the space a whimsical, nostalgic edge. Now, let’s get to the star of the show - the croissant. This has become my go-to "da bao" (means take away) spot whenever I am in the neighbourhood. I am a bit of a traditionalist, so I almost always stick to the plain butter croissant. Some might call that boring, but one bite of theirs will change your mind. It is perfectly balanced: lightly salted, incredibly airy, and beautifully fluffy on the inside, shielded by a delicate, golden crust that shattered with a satisfying crunch. The butter fragrance is remarkably intense and carries a distinct creaminess that lingers long after the last bite. It is a telltale sign that they aren’t skimping on quality; it tastes like proper, fresh French butter. Having travelled to France quite frequently in the past, I can honestly say this is the closest I have found to the real deal in Singapore. At S$4.50 each, it might seem a tad pricey, but for a taste that saves you the airfare to Paris, it is a bargain. I have also sampled their Pain au Chocolat. Even as someone who has to watch their sugar intake, I found it excellent. The chocolate isn’t cloyingly sweet or overbearing; it complements the buttery pastry without drowning out the craftsmanship of the dough. I rarely dine in simply because the place is tiny and usually buzzing with people, but the interior is worth admiring while you wait. It has a cozy, eclectic feel with all rich, dark timber shelving and polished concrete floors. The warm glow from the vintage-style bulbs and pendant lamps makes the whole space feel incredibly inviting. The walls are a bit of a treasure trove, too, covered in retro posters and quirky mascot illustrations, with rows of little figurines and collectibles lining the counters. If you are on the hunt for a proper croissant in town, I can't recommend this place enough. Do have a chat with the owner while you are there; he is a lovely, funny character who clearly puts his heart into the business. : The owner mentioned that they will be closing for good at the end of May 2026. There are currently no plans for relocation. Please support Quah Song & Co. while you can. Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: $1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
