Came during off peak time and was pretty much the only person there. Great food and friendly service. Had the fish cutlet, chicken 65 and sambal chicken. Usually get the masala chicken but decided to try the sambal this time. Was a little sweet for me actually but still tender and juicy. Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

A Yishun Culinary Institution. Previously always patronised the Northpoint outlet and have passed by the original sembawang outlet for many years but usually due to parking or the lack of need to be around the area, have never tried it until this year. However I have been eating at the northpoint outlet since shifting to yishun more than 20 years ago. This original outlet is the OG, spacious and friendly, helpful staff, the moment you walk in you'll be hit with the aroma of briyani, masala and the tandoori grill. Have only ordered the chicken briyani set and it never ever disappoints, the thick, luscious gravy, delicious fluffy and lightly spiced briyani rice...I always end up ordering a second rice portion because it's just too good. The staff are friendly, accommodating and very kind,assisting me with gravy top ups and rice refills when requested. This place is also a popular spot for family dinners and gatherings as I routinely see big groups of diners during dinner time. Overall, Shami truly deserves it's reputation for its briyani. A true Yishun Culinary gem! Price per person: $10–20 Vegetarian options: Vegetarian Set available

1-Star Review I visited Shami Banana Leaf (349 Sembawang Road, Singapore 758356) for lunch today. The food portions served were very small, including the drinks. Even plain/hot water was chargeable, which was quite surprising. After finishing our meal, we paid the bill with much dissatisfaction. It was a very hot day, so I decided to get an A&W soft drink can. The cashier (an Indian lady at the counter) first told me it was $2.50, then said $2.90, and moments later changed it again to $3.20 after GST. I found this extremely unreasonable — paying over $3 for a canned drink is unacceptable. When I told her I didn’t want it anymore, she rudely insisted it was already billed and couldn’t be returned. This felt like daylight robbery. Due to the commotion, I even forgot to take my bill. Overall, it was a very poor experience — overpriced items, inconsistent pricing, and rude service. Definitely not returning. Order type: Dine in Meal type: Lunch
