Quite the cozy restaurant. Kind of like restaurant in the hole. Despite a small joint, the food quality is definitely on the higher end. It's decently priced for that quality. Everything was good from start to end. Only thing I disliked was the fish with the sweet/sour sauce. Probably a palate thing but my friends also dislikes the sauce. The chicken was cooked just right, the sauce is very unique but just fit right somehow. The meatball was average but the bone marrow made up for it. As for the chestnut soup was amazing surprisingly. Also the starter, shrimp and the scallion one was great. Just the scallion overpowered everything a bit too much but the texture and taste was good. The dessert was average but overall the experience was still great to try. Also it was an open kitchen like vea. So it's nice to see the chef cooking a storm for you. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $500+ Parking space: Somewhat difficult to find parking Parking options: Paid parking lot Wheelchair accessibility: Nope unable.

Nestled in the vibrant district of Sheung Wan, Daap stands as a testament to culinary innovation. This intimate venu has bridged the gap between European techniques and Chinese ingredients, creating a fusion that captivates both local and international diners. The restaurant's name, "Daap" (嗒), echoes the Cantonese expression for the joyful sound of eating, embodying its mission to create memorable dining experiences. With space for just less than 20 guests, Daap offers a cozy retreat from Hong Kong's bustling streets. The restaurant's forest green interior and open kitchen design create an atmosphere of understated elegance, allowing diners to watch Chef’s culinary craftsmanship in action – an entertaining aspect of the experience. While Chef Luke's solo effort in the kitchen is commendable, our recent visit fell short of expectations given the price point. Despite the restaurant's fine dining aspirations, the 45-minute wait for the first dish suggests a need for improved efficiency to better align with their premium positioning. (7.5/10) It arrived crispy as a perfect base for the geoduck and caviar. Great texture interplay, with ginger-scallion pesto adding freshness. (7.5/10) The tangy preserved green sauce perfectly complements the sweet prawns without overpowering them. Excellent balance. (6.5/10) The fish maw lacks both smokiness and distinct flavor. However, the Thai buttermilk dressing and Sichuan red oil save the dish, creating a vibrant Thai-styled sauce. (8/10) A triumph - intense prawn sauce delivers oceanic depth, while the siu mai boasts perfect texture. (7/10) We tasted a subtle presence of coconut sauce that enhances the chestnuts' natural sweetness. Satisfyingly rich and filling. - (7/10) Perfectly crispy skin with tender flesh, elevated by a sweet-sour salted lemon and doubanjiang sauce with subtle heat. / (7/10) It is let down by the dense Chencun noodles which lack smoothness. The sauce is intense and aromatic, enhancing the generous crab meat, it has a slight bitterness though. & (6/10) The beef balls had great texture with water chestnut addition. The bone marrow's oversalting overwhelms its natural richness, a disappointing flaw. / (8/10) It shines with crispy skin and juicy meat. The basmati rice achieved ideal chewiness and cohesion, great execution. (7/10) The pair delivers on presentation and taste – the tea-infused ice cream pairs well with the buttery bun. (6/10) It has deep black sesame flavor. However, the filling's watery texture makes it messy to eat, undermining the experience.
